San Francisco is all sorts of busy with store openings lately -- from the practical to the stylish. The latest, Prada, was only a decade in planning. What could possibly take that long to open? Maybe architect Roberto Baciocchi enjoyed an identity crisis as he redesigned the 5,650-square-foot space from women's boutique on Geary Street to a badass Prada shop for us guys (and some women's clothes). But they're mostly stocking up with menswear, custom-tailored suits, and accessories. Prada's latest flagship opens today in the Union Square area. Last night, Prada threw a VIP launch party with DJ Jeffrey Tonnesen from Gotham's drug den The Box spinning for a packed crowd. Attendees included slick and sleazy SF Mayor Gavin Newsom, as well as Vanessa Getty, Sloan Barnett, Tatianna Sorokko, the always dashing and dapper Mayor Willie Brown, and Andre and Juliette de Baubigny.
