Camille and the Aussie Lowdown
Kylie Minogue put it best when she sang, 'Lucky, lucky, lucky, I should be so lucky in love.' How come Aussies—like our very own Camille—get all the breaks (and the good American-accented parts)?

Cate Blanchett, in BlackBook magazine’s “Music Issue,” left.
Below, our less-than-scientific (and entirely incomprehensive) directory of Australia’s best and brightest (and their main squeezes).
CATE BLANCHETT met her husband, writer Andrew Upton, in 1996 while working on a stage production of The Seagull. They married a year later. Of their initial attraction, Blanchett later told Vanity Fair, “He thought I was aloof and I thought he was arrogant.”
NICOLE KIDMAN and Tom Cruise first caught each other’s attention while filming Days of Thunder. They married on December 24, 1990. They separated when Kidman was three months pregnant, just before their tenth wedding anniversary. (So, this one’s not so rose-tinted.)
NAOMI WATTS has dated actor Liev Schreiber since meeting him on the set of The Painted Veil in 2005. Their son, Alexander Pete, was born two years later. At this year’s Tony Awards, Schreiber told “Entertainment Tonight,” “We are married. You got it first. Break the story!” When asked is this was true, Watts replied, “No.”
TONI COLLETTE married Dave Galafassi in 2003. On a recent “Rove Live” interview, she said she’d girl-on-girl with Angelina Jolie. Oh, and she’s pregnant.
ISLA FISHER is engaged to Borat‘s Sacha Baron Cohen. Reportedly, Fisher converted to Judaism for her fiancé. Fisher watched Cohen roll around naked with a fat man from Kazakhstan.
ERROL FLYNN was married thrice, bookending his “commoner” wife Nora Eddington with actresses Lili Damita and Patrice Wymore. He was an equal opportunity lady killer, but clearly one with a taste for screen sirens. Last words: “I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”
HUGH JACKMAN and his wife, actress Deborah-Lee Furness, met on the set of “Correlli,” a TV series filmed down under. Jackman designed their wedding rings himself, inscribing them with a Sanskrit translation of “We dedicate our union to a greater source.”
GUY PEARCE married Kate Mestitz, an actress who was also his childhood sweetheart. He started dating Mestitz at the ball-droppingly young age of 12. The reignited their pre-pubescent flame in 1993 on the Australian television series “The Man from Snowy River,” and married in 1997. Due to Guy’s notorious surliness, they’ve lived in separate houses since 2000, although they’re still together.
ERIC BANA met his Australian sweetheart while acting in Full Frontal (believe it). They’ve been married since 1997. “I learned a lot about women through my wife,” says Bana. “So I was a bit of a late bloomer in that respect. I’ve always really loved the company of women. Men spend a lot of time playing games with bravado and bullshit, whereas I think women can be far more honest.”
RUSSELL CROWE married Danielle Spencer at their home in Australia in a lavish 2003 ceremony. Says Crowe: “People accuse me of being arrogant all the time. I’m not arrogant, I’m focused. I don’t make demands. I don’t tell you how it should be. I’ll give you fucking options, and it’s up to you to select or throw ‘em away. That should be the headline: If you’re insecure, don’t fucking call.”
