Hillary and Barack Plagiarize Themselves
Enough, already! We get it. Clinton and Obama say the same things over and over (and over) again, and it's all a little dizzying—unless you're NYU grad student Pravin Sathe. Introducing a young artist who's changing the way we stump.

Hillary, above, from Sathe’s “How You See It” series.
Using eerily similar clips from three different news channels—CBS 2, NBC 4, and ABC 7 in New York City—Tisch Master’s candidate Pravin Sathe has put together a new millenial palimpsest (!) of sorts with ”How You See It.” By layering video footage of presidential candidates and other news stories with names like “Deadly Stabbing” and “Queens Shooting,” Sathe makes tangible the modern gripe, “This shit is all the same. Somebody get the remote.” Says Sathe, “What ‘How You See It’ hopes to illuminate is how news broadcasts, far from daring reporting or varied approaches, have regressed to pantomiming each other, creating a cachophony of sound and images that are no different from one another. Our news media landscape normally described as three giants, is really one in disguise.” —Nick Haramis
