New York rain

As operators and employees gripe about the weather forecast, I see a silver lining in all these clouds: the weather may keep people from scooting off to oceans far away and also stop them from energy-burning daytime activities. Clubs may pack with rain refugees. The Hamptons may get washed out, the Jersey shore will surely suffer. Plus, my flowers are loving it.

Brisk Bodega

Maybe the heatwave is getting to me. Maybe I'm just getting up there and I'm slow on the uptake. Maybe this is the coolest invite ever. I get a million of them. Invites, that is. Hakkasan Nightclub in Vegas recently invited me to their recent opening. It came in a box with a plexi-engraved invite and tons of cool stuff called "swag." I get these super invites all the time with free stuff like speakers for the computer, salves and sunblocks, chopsticks. People send me stuff, mostly stuff I don't really need, but my mom always said it's the thought that counts.

House of Yes

I never give a hard "NO" to the House of Yes, although sometimes it's a firm "Maybe" or a carefree "Why Not." Tonight, I will scoot off to Never Never Land…no, not Uptown Manhattan but to the opening of a dark & mystical version of Peter Pan at 342 Maujer St., Brooklyn. The show will run tonight and tomorrow and Sunday and next weekend as well. Doors are at 7pm and tickets are $20 -$35. Advance tickets are highly advised. Get 'em here. Fairy tales can come true. They can happen to you if you're young at heart. This will be wonderful.

I had no idea that one day tourists and New Yorkers would enjoy the decaying old train tracks as a park. People who think outside of the box made a crazy dream come true. Tonight at The Box nightclub,189 Chrystie St. - where dreams come true by thinking “outside” the box - a benefit will bring another crazy idea closer to fruition.

The Out NYC

I love publicists. They make everything sound so very nice. They specialize in wow's and oh wow's and are so crafty with words that sometimes they don't have to even say anything. The truth lies between the lines, and the lies become truths if you say them often enough to the right people. "They make lemons taste like cherries," a wise lady told me. I have favorite publicists and I'll name two. Tomorrow, all the rest will have you believing I named them. Brad Zeifman of Shadow P.R. is wonderful, and so is R. Couri Hay of the P.R. company with his name on the door.
