Push open gigantic golden oak door to the Rockwell hotel and prepare for a soothing dining experience in the 181 restaurant. More of a bolthole destination for those seeking amorous and cocooned atmosphere with some fine modern British dishes and decent wine list. Almost spa-like with superbly smooth service, freshly cut flowers and calming warm oak tones offset by hints of pistachio green. Highlight has to be seasonal al fresco dining in the charming landscaped terrace but it's the best place to cosy up and wait for spring with a table overlooking the lit gardens. Winter foody past times would be grilled seabass with fennel, orange, grapefruit and chilli salad followed by quintessential sticky toffee pudding with lashings of butterscotch sauce.
