If you happen to be a fan of intimate Islington cocktail lounges, 1940's film noir and Italian nibbles, then look no further than 69, Colebrook Row. Awarded ‘Best New Bar 2009' by TimeOut, this bijou bar is an innovative find. Tony Conigliaro is the molecular drinks-maker extraordinaire behind the concept and has exported some fabulous creations from his lab to the bar. Wild Strawberry Bellini with Neroli strawberry puree and orange blossom topped with prosecco is a winner, but you should also try the homemade ‘merlet' cognac used to concoct a wild but suave Spitfire with bursts of crème de peche, lemon, sugar and white wine. The décor is just as pleasing with a lacquered 1940's red and black theme running throughout.
