8th Street Winecellar

Editorial Review

Union Square Cafe bar alum bring hospitality to friendly cavern. Slate bar and smattering of tables are solid and stylish without pushing any envelopes, just like the small plates menu. Tuna sliders a big seller, frisee salad a great Trojan horse, with healthy greens hiding decadent potato gratin. Wine list reflects a strong edit, especially Piedmontese varieties. Address is more NYU than Village, but space is versatile enough to accommodate both.
