BlackBook Lowdown
Not the hippest stay in town, but rooms that showcase exposed brick and a hotel rocking the early works of Dale Chihuly on the walls? Not the stuffiest, either. Besides being pet-friendly (they'll lend you a "designer doggie bed"), special amenities include complementary shoe shine, a private steam room, and in-room spa treatments. Avoid booking a room on the 1st Ave side, as it gets quite noisy, and a few doors lead to views of the water, but they go fast: book early. Hotel has solid locale (near Pike Place Market), with easy access to tons of food and entertainment. It's a bit worn for the price tag, but gets props and a solid rep from discerning travelers nonetheless.
