Buenos Aires » Hotel » Recoleta » Lux
Classic, grand 5-star, elegant, and many other words that rich old people love. And Madonna, who stayed here when she was shooting Evita, presumably to conjure fancy, decadent Buenos Aires of yore. Doesn't actually smell like mothballs, but it looks like it, in a charming Parisian splendor sort of way. Suites are predictably grandiose, with bubble bath and flat screens in the bathroom, plus imported beauty potions to make your wrinkles glisten, and have a butler at the ready to light your cigar and buff your balls, er, shoes. Regular rooms not enormous or particularly impressive, unless marble, gold and embroidery make you wet. Corrupt Banana Republic type presidents (Charlie el innombrable, Fujimori, Cardoso and other shady politicos) keep their high priced candy on a very special floor when visiting, so our friend the butler tells us.
