BlackBook Lowdown

Former filling station transformed by Eric Goode into labyrinthine hangout. When known as Bowery Bar, was hottest spot in town, now a semi-beloved standby, especially for our neighbors across the Hudson. Best for low-key weekend afternoon cocktailing; after hours, crowds descend and bouncers can get surly. Nice outdoor garden for grazing on burgers and pizza. For M's seeking M's, in-crowd gay party Beige takes over on Tuesday nights.

A guilty-pleasure spot that you certainly want to hate, but secretly adore. Few patios in the city can top B Bar for early-evening cocktails and a quick bite. Tight-assed doormen sometimes seem to forget that their carpet isn't red and their rope isn't velvet, so tread lightly when gents outnumber ladies in your party.

the last time i came here on a tuesday, for beige, i was smoking in the bathroom with amanda lepore, michael musto, andre j and joey arias. oddly, no one batted a lash. it's always a shitshow here.
