Bäco Mercat

Editorial Review

In a cool, rehabbed space in downtown's Old Bank District, this restaurant is renovating more than the walls. Their main dish is called Baco and it's a signature flatbread made into something like a pizza or a taco. Crispy pork belly and beef carnitas with caraway seeds was the first "baco" incarnation, later came the "coca" pizzas with toppings like salsa verde, prosciutto, ricotta and a farm egg. Local meats and vegetables grace the menu as do LA coffee roasters and Spanish cava.
