Michael Bao Huynh - he of the Manhattan Vietnamese empire Bar Bao, Bao 111, and Bao Noodles - opened up this modest, tiny Gramercy storefront with his wife in a former Blimpie's space to (appropriately) dish out sammiches. Not just sammiches, though: glorious, glorious takes on the Bahn Mi (pork pate with jalepenos and pork terrine), Vietnamese interpretations of a Sloppy Joe (Spicy Curry Beef, Green Mango, Basil, Lemongrass), and a Catfish-topped baguette that makes your Filet O' Fish look inbred. Nothing over $8 on the menu, which also has a few soups and summer rolls, if that's what you're into, but the real star here is the top-shelf bread they use and what they put on it. Sandwich addicts beware. Service seriously leaves something to be desired, though.
