BlackBook Lowdown

Proving there's more to Belgium than Van Damme. This upmarket cafe offers a passport to Europe. All food and drinks are imported from Belgium. With the weakest tipple being the notorious "wife beater" Stella Artois, you're in for a heavy night. Imports don't stop at cuisine, kitsch posters and brass trinkets adorn faux weathered walls. Stout bench tables are the only stable objects after a few too many jars. Try and catch the terrace views while you're sober enough to remember them.

Belgian Beer

Posted by Radimus on Sunday, January 04, 2009

A small but well chosen variety on offer. Prices are above average but the beers are powerful with a good 1.5 to 2 percent points of alcohol per volume over your regular draughts. Pale beer lovers: go for the Hoegaarden which comes in a hefty glass, estimated by us to contain around 1.5 pints at least. Other good beers include the Leffe Brune or Blonde. Happy Trails!
