Sweat and creative energy is what you feel when you enter the eclectic, Victorian-inspired home of Belljar. Art director turned graphic designer, Sasha Wingate, opens her shop to us filled with an eclectic mix of clothing, soap, ceramics, glassware, jewelry and décor. An intriguing dark edge – dark wood floors, cream walls, taxidermy, human anatomy posters – becomes exotic with color pops in patterned pillows, vibrant flora-fauna wallpaper and light hearted flea market finds. A tucked away room with a salvaged old bathtub in the center is filled with the aroma of scented soaps from around the world. Nouveau-Goth clothing from LA designers such as Jovovich-Hawk complements the exquisite jewelry collection from local SF talent.
