Belly Shack

Editorial Review

Chef Bill Kim and wife Yvonne Cadiz-Kim's Urban Belly: a Logan Square legend. Now, two miles south, the pair's opened up sister shop. Where Urban Belly's slick and smooth with gorgeous communal tables, Belly Shack's gray and industrial: tables made of reclaimed wood and graffiti and skateboard-adorned walls. Asian-Latino menu's sparse yet powerful, delivering "sammiches" like the Asian Meatball with rice noodles and mint and the Boricua: crispy plantains, Chinese black beans, marinated tofu and organic brown rice. Don't leave without dipping into the unique flavors of soft serve (toppings provided by Mindy Segal of Hot Chocolate), like the huckleberry-lime or bacon chocolate chip.
