Blockley Pourhouse and Mary Oaks

Editorial Review

Philadelphia has always been a rockers’ city. To wit, in the old Chestnut Cabaret space, whose stage has welcomed everyone from De La Soul to Devo, comes the new Blockley Pour House, which, for the record, used to be an actual insane asylum. (How’s that for punk cred?) The space marries old, and now utterly trendy, English boozer aesthetics with state-of-the-art sound and lighting, accommodating up to 800 musicheads. The adjacent Mary Oaks restaurant serves sophisticated pub grub and more than 100 different beers.
