Brasserie Jo is named for Chef J. Joho, and it's billed as "Chicago's only authentic French brasserie," an odd claim considering that "brasserie" is just frogspeak for a restaurant serving beer. Jo goes one step beyond, however, with basics like cold steak tartare, pommes frites and modern takes on French standards like the Riesling Chicken Alsace Coq au Vin. The crowd isn't particularly stylish, but who the hell cares when the food is this good?
