Moscow » Restaurant » Patriarshy Ponds » Russian
Many artists have been inspired by Bulgakov's 1930's literary masterpiece; Mick Jagger, Salman Rushdie, the band Franz Ferdinand, to name a few. The opening scene of the novel, a tale of the devil's arrival in Moscow, is at Patriarch's Ponds and that is precisely where you'll discover this warm little cafe. Locals and tourists alike come here to eat from a simple menu of traditional Russian fare (pelmeni, blini, you get the idea) and vodka. More importantly, however, they come for the live music. Virtuosos on violin and piano are here nightly to entertain and encourage visitors to shed their inhibitions and sing along.
