Caulfield’s, an homage to the irreverent J.D. Salinger character, is an appropriately unflashy place, with dark leather banquets, a mahogany bar, deco lighting fixtures and an almost tavern-like vibe. Cody Diegel’s menu goes heavy on nostalgic Americana—think steak, burgers, and, um, peanut butter cups. A compelling, Algonquin inspired mural depicts 1950’s glit-lits like Dorothy Parker, Arthur Miller and Jack Kerouac. With The Writers Room having just opened in West Hollywood, LA seems to be suddenly keen on nurturing its literary side. We approve.
