Jerry Suqi, behind the nightspots Sugar and La Pomme Rouge, has put his Palestinian mother Amni in charge of his newest kitchen. At his latest venture, the romantic Chickpea, Amni is whipping up classics like kebabs, falafel and hummus while Jerry points with nostalgia to the framed American movie posters with Arabic text that he's hung in the dining room. The sumac-spiced chicken and braised lamb dishes are early favorites, but keep your eyes (read: mouth) open for other authentic meals. FYI: No alcohol and no BYOB, so drink up before you show up.
