Former haberdashery boasts opulent, 30-foot high, gold leaf-etched Lalique glass ceilings and sweeping, double-sided staircase. Ideal for weddings and parties (long as we ain't paying). Dishes carefully follow suit: lobster and asparagus crepes, coffee-glazed rack of lamb, smoked duck shitake ravioli, and filet with foie gras. Cuisine quite excellent; room quite empty. Those tuxedoed old-timers clearly ventured downtown specifically for this meal, not the open-air crack market. Jackets/job required.
