The Hamptons » Shop » East Hampton » Art
Christiane Celle, the founder of Calypso, ventured into the art world by opening a chain of bookstore-galleries carrying about the same location tags as her clothing boutiques: New York, East Hampton, St. Barth. Inspired, perhaps, by her marriage to photogropher Antoin Verglas, the gallery features emerging photographers and artists (often local), while the bookstore offers rare, signed and limited-edition photography books. As if she did have enough locations in the Hamptons already, Celle also added this little jewel to her crown. The tiny East Hampton space is tucked behind Newtown Lane in a hidden red-bricked alleyway in a former beauty salon. It's quiet here, but who wants noise while reading?
