We were excited at the debut of Cork Lounge, mistakenly thinking it was a reopening of the old Cork winebar on Lincoln. How sad we were on opening week to find just another poser Irish pub riddled with flatscreen TVs and the overwhelming smell of fresh paint. Add "vintage" European liquor advertising posters and you've got the crown, scepter and orb of mediocrity. Prediction: its proximity to the El will make it a one-drink tide-over for weeknight alcoholics on their way to someplace darker, seedier and more interesting.
