After the heralded fusion cuisine at D.O.M., celeb chef Alex Atala’s new gastronomy playground heads back to Brazilian basics, traditional all the way, including the real adobe walls. Digs are colonial but done as if your rich grandparents footed the bill. Indians hand-built entrance via old-school techniques and plants. Chunky, half-sanded furniture and food in clay pots drive the point home. Natural light illuminates well-dressed crowd and the food is meant for sharing. Downstairs bar is the scene.
