Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich get big and fancy. Dark and serious room with '30s hotel lobby flavor. Massive, ambitious, choreographed peasant food; bread and water never tasted so good. Pastas are secondi to none, but the bollito misto—a medley of Italian offal products carved tableside—is what's really getting us all hot and bothered. Drop Oprah's name if you want a resy. Closing of the small in-house enoteca ensures even more of a bowtie-and-pocket-square scene.
