Dirt Candy

Editorial Review

Cheeky vegetarian restaurant concept (it's candy, from the dirt, they're vegetables, etc.) in East Village, where they're not exactly rare. Place looks like it could give, say, Angelika Kitchen a run for its money, grains, whatever: trumpet royale mushrooms and perserved lemon mayo get tossed in a Greek Salad, and something called "Kimchi Doughnuts" manages the apps side of the menu. A bunch of biodynamic wines grace the menu's booze list, which does fans of South American vinos a solid.(Photo: Michael Harlan Turkell)
