Little India district in Paris's raffish northeast could more accurately be called Little South India, or even Little Sri Lanka, once you're by La Chapelle metro station. Just around the corner from the station is Rue Cail, home to subcontinental grocery stores, shops, and this authentic Tamil restaurant with lighter, more subtle fare than usual heavy-cream-and-curry-powder (except for the paratha-bread curry, delicious but paralyzing). Tell your server if you're a spice fan, and don't snack before you go; portions are large.
