Ed's Chodorow House. Eight One's Ed Brown applies his seafood skills to Jeffrey Chodorow's former Center Cut. Result retains some of the former's steakhouse feel, finished in whites and beiges and sprawling across massive, sparkling second-floor space. As name promises, serves up fresh (if not inspired) chowder, with seafood, sweet corn, Manhattan crab, and New England clam iterations. Raw bar and loads of local fish, plus steaks and chops for old-timers who refuse to break with their pre-Lincoln Center rituals.
