The Center Stage space at the Plaza Hotel is one of Vegas' classics: An enormous fishbowl with an unobstructed view down Fremont Street, it languished for years as a mediocre continental restaurant and then an ill-conceived sports bar. Now it reopens as an outpost of hipster tapas spot Firefly. An extensive menu of small plates range from the okay to the outstanding (may we recommend the bacon/blue cheese-stuffed dates, filet mignon sliders, and mango-ahi skewers). The autographed 8x10 glossies of Steve and Eydie have been lifted from the walls, but the glittering vision through the window remains the same. The unadorned expanses of glass mean it can get a bit loud, but the eye-level view of vintage neon is worth it. A young, largely local clientele keeps the food circulating and the cocktails flowing.
