Every bit the generic, corporate chain hotel, but sometimes that's a good thing. Boffo location downtown is a short walk from the National Mall, the Smithsonian, and scores of restaurants and bars. Hotel itself has everything you need and much of what you want: free wifi, fitness center, ice machines to stock your beer-filled cooler, comfy beds, flat-screen TV with cable. Two standout features: the Best Brews program in the District Grill bar and restaurant, which boasts five microbrews on draft and seven in bottles;  and the rooftop indoor pool, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let you sunbathe in the winter and provide killer vistas of the city. Shut your eyes and pretend you're at a resort.
