Having built its reputation on serving up inexpensive delicious grilled meat in a fun, informal environment, Gallipoli became so successful that it opened two more restaurants on bar- and restaurant-lined Upper Street. What it does well – tender, smoky lamb, melt-in-the-mouth kofte, fresh mezze by the ton – it does very well, and it's still a favourite for birthday parties, despite the management's habit of forcing all guests to dance on the table to Turkish pop at the end of the meal.
