Goldrush Cafe is a mom-and-pop kind of place. Funky art hangs on the brick walls as ever-preset owner George Sanchez takes orders and greets folks from the neighborhood. Sanchez's face adorns the record-shaped menu, which could be paying homage to the many rockers who have dined on chicken-fried steak or toast and eggs here. Texas musicians Salim Nourallah, Edie Brickell, Rhett Miller, Rev. Horton Heat and Ben Kweller have all saddled up to the plastic-covered tables to eat. The prices are from another era; get a decent breakfast any time with coffee for $5. The homey vibe and good grub means a spectacular wait for weekend brunch, so bring along the paper and expect a wait.
