Thursdays and Fridays only here at the gajillionth club incarnation in the same location. Usually a cover, and almost always rude bouncers. It helps guests feel important once inside. Pricey drinks; everything looks sleek, expensive, of the moment. Music could be more so. In Hollywood, one goes for the feeling, not the dancing (you're wearing expensive shoes, after all).
