This extraordinary turreted Gothic mansion was built in 1936 by racing tycoon Eric Moller, allegedly to replicate a Disneyesque dream of his daughter. It has been comprehensively renovated since, but remains one of Shanghai's most unique hotel locations. There are 28 rooms - demand one in the the main mansion, not the newer adjunct - sitting above attractive gardens and a patio cafe, with an excellent location.
