Boston » Bar » Fenway » Live Music
The transformation of Kenmore Square and the Fenway Park area into an over-priced, faceless theme park for suburban sports fans continues unabated with the domination of the relatively new House of Blues in Boston (pinch hitting for the defunct Avalon). One positive side to the make-over: a lot fewer Boston University disco-Euros crowding the streets on the weekend. Then again the all-ages focused Axis rock venue was sacrificed at the altar of respectability as well, so it's 50/50 there. Looking at the schedule for the HOB, which is basically the Avalon with a ton of makeup on, should ease any of those complaints however. With everything from Thievery Corporation, Cut Copy, Bloc Party, The Pogues and Morrissey playing in the span of a month, the 2000 plus capacity venue has good taste at the very least.
