BlackBook Lowdown

Ivan Kane started and ended the burlesque scene in L.A. Moved on to bigger things now: namely, dinner. Cafe Was does the upscale bohemian thing with flair (flair might be Ivan's middle name): the grand piano spins round and round, the big staircase actually leads to nowhere. But feel free to drape yourself becomingly across it. All manner of spirits, including those served in paper bags if recession indulgence strikes your fancy. The food has pedigree, but not a lot of eating happening.
