Downtown institution is a melting pot of city culture, where red nosed politicos, burly construction workers, financial district suits, off the boat Irish, the occasional rock star (Bono, Joe Strummer) and smart-assed journos raise pints of working man's ale cheek to jowl and feed crumpled ones into the way better than you expect jukebox. No other frills here, unless you call a bar with gritty integrity, decent Guinness pours, and crack bartenders who don’t need characters like you giving the joint atmosphere frills. Skip the food, beer has enough calories anyway.
