Johnston & Murphy gets our vote. Founded in 1850 by a British immigrant and master shoemaker, J&M is older than Canada. Handcrafting kicks for the American prez since the eighteen hundoes. Lincoln jocked black ankle lace-up bootswhile while putting the kaibosh on  slavery, and Reagan opted for the Ambassador Cap Toe when he punked the Russians. Even Martin Sheen, method actor that he is, rocked J&M on West Wing, you know, for authenticity's sake. They've since gone on to include luggage and other leather goods, but when it comes to footwear, they're Commander-in-Chief.
