Formerly "Europe's largest department store" (now in second place) KaDeWe celebrated its 100th birthday in 2007, a commendable achievement considering it nearly burned to the ground after an American plane crashed into it during WWII. A mammoth of consumer excess today, with 7 massive floors offering designer labels, interior furnishings, beauty lounges with salon and spa services, exotic foods, pricey tobacco products (Cuban cigars) and pretty much everything else ever made by anyone, anywhere. Definitely visit the gourmet department's incredible assortment of foods that will keep you alive in the likely event you get lost for days roaming the aisles.
