Despite being a Chinese/Japanese hybrid (they rarely seem to handle either side of the menu with the culinary deftness that either culture is known for), food is Kite’s strongest card. Rolls are lightly packed with rice, the sashimi is firm and cool, and the cooked items are on-point. Things ease into mild discomfort from here, with too-dark/too-generic Asian décor and a revolving cast of ethnic waitresses who are visibly terrified of making mistakes and thus tend to make many, forcing diners to be both gracious and irritated simultaneously. Is the owner scaring these servers or do they do it to themselves?
