On the outdoor terrace overlooking the Madinat and Burj, shisha is smoked like it’s going out of fashion. While the tobacco bubbles conjure a fruity haze, flickering candle flames lick the air providing a setting to seal the deal. Plush velvet cushions adorn the interiors, which, while Soviet in colour, remain true to Arabic roots. With drinks served in dainty glasses, pint swiggers are made demure.
