Paris » Bar » Marais » Indie Bar
Hands down the best place to peoplewatch in the Marais. Catapulted to fame by ambivalent neighbor John Galliano (he loves it! he hates it! he doesn’t understand the hype!), this place has nothing to commend it except the crowd and the sassy staff. Tired decor, predictable music, whatever. During warm months the action spills onto the sidewalk, much to the locals’ dismay. One poor chump is tasked with keeping people off the street and under the awning. Despite the high cheekbones, skinny waists, and funky dress, the scene is surprisingly unpretentious. Make like blogster La Coquette and play “count the white jazz shoes."
