Sticking to the winning formula that made their thimble-sized Pinche Taco Shop on Hastings Street such a success, La Taqueria’s second location has tripled the seating but still has diners lined up almost out the door at lunch. Soft corn tortillas are topped with succulent organic meats, flavor-rich vegetarian/vegan items and ass-kicking hot sauces and guacamole. Money-saving combos of 4 allow easy sampling of carnitas, cachete, asada and their beautifully balanced chicken mole, but don’t skip the amazing pescado and quesadillas. Mexican sodas and fresh horchata complete the authentic picture, with a liquor license pending and rooftop patio on the way.
