Lanchonete da Cidade

Editorial Review

Hamburger haven that imitates a '60s American diner right down to the formica counters and retro vinyl seats, though a lot classier than a Johnny Rocket's, and with a modern touch. Baby blues, yellows and browns on the walls and furniture create a calm atmosphere to aid in digestion. More than a dozen varieties of burgers whose patties weigh in from 120 to 220 grams and topped with everything from hummus to a mini omelet—this is Brazil, remember—attract the expensive-jeans crowd, from MTV Brazil personalities to anonymous young shoppers. Good people-watching spot if you can get past what's on the plate.
