Inspired by Japanese sushi bars, Rubuchon’s sleek, red-and-black downstairs restaurant prides itself on an open kitchen around which diners (many of them on expense accounts) gather to watch glorious tasting dishes – langoustine ravioli, stuffed clams, foie gras burger – being prepared before them. Prices are high, though affordable set menus are available in the more traditional upstairs space.
