The late Elvio Vitali's classic bokstore and cafe cum quasi-cultural center. A BA intellectual hang founded by 70's left wing activist Vitali after returning from political exile in 1984, with the fall of the dictatorship. Bookshop still flourishes in the social sciences and literature, basks in intellectual street cred, and has a cute cafe section to sit and look erudite with fellow bookworms. Vitali sold his stake and went on to be the head of Argentina's National Library (like some dude named Borges) before passing away in early 2009. Gandhi was de rigeur for 80's Buenos Aires intelligentsia, and you can still see living remnants of that era thumbing through a Toni Negri title over a cortadito. Catch a screening or take Method acting classes in the Foro section.
