BlackBook Lowdown

If you want anyone in Chicago starting up a new music venue, it's gotta be Mike and Chris Schuba. After 20 years of running Schubas Tavern in Lakeview into infamy, the two have gone balls out to take over the old 3 Penny movie theater and have transformed it into your new favorite spot to see The Walkmen or Art Brut. We're talking 8,400 total square-feet (that includes a restaurant serving small plates and bar food like wraps and flatbreads) with a U-shaped mezzanine to watch from above, a ridiculous sound system, and best of all, a couple of owners with rock-solid relationships with the most-hyped bands on tour.
