BlackBook Lowdown

NKOTB brings Santa Monica to downtown Gustavia. Owner Fabrizio Bianconi is also part of the team at Via Veneto, an LA Italian eatery that looks like a backdrop for the Starter Wife. His Caribbean cucina, the former O'Corner, ain't too different, with arugula salad, prosciutto, and taglietelle that's a needed respite from all the creole kitchens in the hood. First season means its too early to tell whether Fabs can make this one last.

la isola

We have been going to St. Barths for years and our last visit we stumbled upon La Isola. The food and ambiance are fantastic, some of the best on the island. The food rivals that of the best restaurants in Italy, France or New York. The veal milanese is as good as it gets as are the fish specials, salads & desserts. Reservations were definitely necessary in Feb. '09
