This is true roots Playa del Carmen, strolling over to one of the world's most gorgeous beaches in a straw hat sipping a beer, overhanging lanterns glowing above post-siesta margaritas in a bar made from swings and palm leaves, and really cool people on their short vacations letting loose and doing crazy things. Prices are great for bright, simple, immaculate rooms, non-smoking and non-televisions but uniquely hand-crafted and set with nice views. The action's definitely on the outside though, see Mamita.
