J Crew's sister fashion powerhouse has borrowed some tricks of the trade while developing killer moves of her own. Madewell is styled like a boutique, but lines (Hi-Line, Madewell, Wallace, Hawke, New Haven) have more in common than their geography. All from the same design team. Result is a highly curated unified Mecca where the 'women look sexy in men's clothes' spirit reigns. Think boyfriend tees and rock and roll vests. It doesn't need to be baggy to be masculine.
